Adolescents are often thought of as a healthy group but many serious diseases in adulthood have their roots during this time. Behaviours like smoking, diet, exercise, use or abuse of drugs and alcohol, sexuality and sexual practices, attitudes and preferences related to health and disease in general, are largely developed at adolescence. Issues involving weight, body image, prevention and disease, puberty and sexual development commonly arise during adolescence. This evening course will identify these common presentations and discuss strategies for diagnosis, management, prevention and treatment.
