The BMA is currently undertaking a survey of all doctors, in the UK and beyond, regarding career choices.
It is clear that there are nationwide issues with retention and under-recruitment (as highlighted by many organisations, and also in the report published by the BMA in September: https://www.bma.org.uk/collective-voice/policy-and-research/education-training-and-workforce/state-of-medical-recruitment), and while there are many hypotheses regarding the causes of this, we lack hard data. The aim with this survey is to provide that.
The BMA aim to use the results of this survey to build a narrative around a number of BMA campaigns as required, in discussions with external organisations including training bodies (HEE/NES/Wales Deanery/NIMDTA) and looking towards the 2018 review of the junior doctor contract.
