Have you heard about the paediatric simulation training?
In 2010 a two Paediatric simulation courses were developed by the London School of Paediatrics.
Full Immersion: 28 May SAIL centre (St Thomas’) ST1/ST3 & nurses
These scenarios were designed to provide the opportunity recognise and manage important paediatric emergencies .The aim of simulation training was to improve patient safety and increase the confidence of teams managing sick children.
The scenarios are all based on real paediatric emergencies that you are likely to encounter. It takes place in a simulation centre with paediatric manikins. The multi-disciplinary faculty debrief each scenario to maximise the learning opportunity and improve understanding of human factors.
One more date available this year the South London Region 28 May.
Part Task / Communication days (17 April and 23 June) for STS 3 trainees only
These days are designed to help ST3 trainees improve their technical and communication skills prior to starting their middle grade (ST4 posts).
Technical skills: airway management (including intubation and replacing a tracheostomy). Chest drain insertion and intra-osseous needle insertion.
Communication skills: Scenarios with a professional role –player based on common and rare paediatric situations which require skilled communication. The focus is on learning and practising communication skills that can be applied
