Every trainee has a named Training Programme Director (TPD) who is available to discuss your training needs, out of programme (OOP) requests, career planning, less than full time (LTFT) training forms and many other queries. Your first port of call for all of these queries should be your educational supervisor and college tutor, but there are occasions when you may prefer to discuss specific issues with your TPD, or your college tutor may refer you to your TPD for issues with aspects of training such as LTFT and OOP applications.
At the beginning of your paediatric training in NCEL you will be allocated the TPD who is affiliated with your hospital site (details in downloadable document). This person can remain your TPD through to ST5 if you would like to keep them as a mentor. Otherwise, your TPD will change depending on which Trust you are working in. Many of you will find a consultant mentor with whom you keep in contact during your training for on-going advice but some of you may value having a TPD who will stick with you for the first five years of your paediatric training and will provide continuity. Your TPD is available for support, mentoring and career advice.
