We had the first NCEL Training Programme Management Committee (ST1-5) Meeting of the year on Tuesday. Starting the year as we mean to go on, we had a fantastic turnout with representation from nearly every Trust in the sector. A fabulous start; it’s great to see such enthusiasm and passion to take training in the sector from strength to strength.
Local Faculty groups (LFG)– A few Trusts across the sector have yet to formalise their LFGs. There are some lovely examples of outstanding practice across the sector. LFGs are an opportunity to focus on training in your Trusts, highlight areas of good practice and review trainee surveys to see where improvements can be made. Trusts can also incorporate CPD learning for senior staff and invite college tutors from neighbouring Trusts to share learning.
ST1-3 training- There is some fabulous teaching happening locally for junior trainees. Centrally, Case Exchange evenings are up and running. The NCEL trainee reps have been liaising with College tutors and trainees to finalise dates for this year. These evenings are aimed at level 1 trainees and each Trust in the sector should host one evening per year. The NCEL trainee reps will help with advertising the evenings and organising the venue. They are also investigating the possibility of making podcasts of these evenings- so watch this space!
ST6-8 matching- is due to open shortly. ST5s watch out for an email arriving in your inbox soon.
Dates for your Diaries:
28 January 6th Annual School Conference
10 February NCEL ST3 information evening
10 March Trainees Committee & TPMC meetings
I end with a plea. Please could you ensure your TPD (as well as your local team) is informed of any OOP plans including maternity leave? We need know so that we can work out your next placements.
