Thanks very much to everyone who contributed to such a dynamic College Tutor and Trainee Trust Rep meeting this afternoon at Senate House.
We heard from Simon Broughton, Su Laurent and Bob Klaber about all of the work and innovation that is taking place within each of the 3 sectors. We heard from Raj Kainth about the Trust Reps morning and the work they did on reviewing and reflecting on induction, and on the plans for a work programme for the year around sharing best practice around rota design and management.
Amutha Anpananthar and Camilla Kingdon then led a really interactive session around careers support, exploring what everyone thought we should be doing as a School. Ideas included FAQs on “what I wished I knew”, podcasts of career stories, work to support and develop educational supervisors, taster weeks, balanced approaches to general v specialty paediatrics, discussions about the role of different types of careers events, links to potential career mentors…….and much more. Watch this space for further developments.
Everyone in the room committed to signing up to the London School of Paediatrics website email list (or to sign on and check that their existing details were correct) and also working to encourage trainees and educational supervisors within their departments to sign up too.
We also highlighted the fantastic shared calendar on the website – September is the month of the calendar so please do put a few minutes to putting all of your sector and pan-london educational events / key dates onto the website where they can be seen by everyone.
Finally – just a reminder that these afternoons happen on the 2nd Tuesday of every other month – next one on 12th November – we will look forward to seeing many of you then.
