Sam Tucker Fellowship – A great opportunity for academic paediatric trainees
The Section of Paediatrics & Child Health are keen to promote academic paediatrics and so have created this new award for young doctors who are less than 10 years post graduation. The section will finance RSM Trainees membership fees for a period of up to 6 years for individuals with an academic record of achievement.
A maximum of 2 Fellowships will be awarded each year.
The successful candidate(s) will become Members of Council of the section for 2 years. They will be expected to attend council meetings and submit a paper at 1 meeting (either an RSM meeting or meeting approved by the section) every 2 years. The candidates also be awarded £250.
Fellowship to start from 1 October 2015
Deadline for applicants 1 April 2015
- Individuals for whom less than ten years have elapsed since they obtained their primary medical qualification.
- Doctors who can demonstrate firm evidence of a commitment to a career in Paediatrics and Child Health. Should have MRCPCH be on ST programme and have an academic record (higher degree eg MD, PhD or peer reviewed paper(s)).
- Candidates should be proposed by a section member. Any trainee not having a proposer could approach the RSM Paediatric Council.

Please send your curriculum vitae and a signed covering letter from the proposer to the Section of Paediatrics & Child Health Council, Royal Society of Medicine, 1 Wimpole Street, London W1G 0AE no later than 1 April 2015.
The Council of Paediatrics & Child Health Section will select the winning candidate(s) from a list of eligible trainees. The selection committee will comprise of the President Elect, Secretary Elect and Treasurer.
The name of successful applicant(s) will be presented to council at the AGM on 16 June 2015 for approval.
