Preparing for the MRCPCH Clinical exam?
This MRCPCH Communication Skills Training course for the clinical exam is devised and delivered by Paediatric Consultants & Medical Educationalists with extensive knowledge of the MRCPCH exam. The Faculty have teamed up with an expert in communication with experience of role playing to develop a practical course which will train you for effective communication. During the morning session all candidates will have the opportunity to complete a communications scenario with a professional role-player, and then receive immediate feedback from the faculty. The other candidates will have the opportunity to observe these scenarios and take part in a short discussion prior to each scenario. After lunch, the course will cover the aspects of communication which were observed to be in need of attention from the morning’s activities. Focus will be on key areas of the communication stations, including scenario strategy, introductions, body language, use of jargon, empathy, breaking bad news, safeguarding children and on any other issues observed during the morning sessions.
The course has been very popular for trainees preparing for the MRCPCH clinical exam and has been shown to improve performance in the exam http://adc.bmj.com/content/99/Suppl_1/A118.2.abstract
