Exciting 12 months leadership secondment opportunity in safeguarding based at the Jessop Wing, Sheffield due to start in February 2019.
This may suit any doctor at ST3 and over who has neonatal experience and an interest in safeguarding. Projects could include working across the wider hospital to ensure that child safeguarding issues are dealt with correctly where children present, either in the adult emergency department, the primary care collaborative, or antenatal matters. Other elements could include outreach working with the sudden unexpected death in infancy team to improve communications, or post discharge follow up of at risk families. Any candidates with specific projects in mind will be support to perform this.
All applicants will be given time to attend leadership training and pursue project work as part of a formal course. Supervision will be from Dr Simon Clark.
There is no clinical work associated with the role, but any doctors who wanted to pick up some clinical shifts at the Jessop Wing would be supported to do so as long as it did not impact on the leadership time.
Any doctors wishing to do the post less than full time, or as a job share are welcome to apply. In the past less than full time leadership posts have worked well, with doctors working between 0.6 and 0.8 full time equivalent.
