None of us feels entirely comfortable supporting a family through the death of their child, but we can make it a better experience for everyone. Child death is thankfully rare, hence, as paediatricians, not many of us have much experience managing such challenging cases, so training in this area is vital. We have put together a multi-professional study day entitled ” A Practical Approach to End of Life Care in Children” at Kingston Hospital on 19 June 2018. We will summarise the main recommendations in the NICE guidelines for children with life-limiting conditions (Dec 2016) and use interactive case discussions to address the key challenges. We will be joined on the faculty by Dr A K Anderson, paediatric palliative care specialist from the Royal Marsden and colleagues from Shooting Star Children’s Hospice and the PATCH symptom control team. Please see attached poster and timetable for further details (including how to book your place -only £25 to include lunch).
