What are the HDU Study Days?
This one day course explores "What is Paediatric HDU Care?” The morning is lecture base, covering HDU management of the shocked child, the child with respiratory distress and the use of non invasive ventilation, and the child with a decreased level of consciousness. We will also explore HDU retrievals. The afternoon consists of 4 stations: a simulated HDU case, case-based discussion, small group work on non invasive ventilation and the management of a chest drain once inserted.
Who are they aimed at?
It is aimed at ST4-5 trainees and priority is given to them, but any trainee is welcome.
