This one day course explores “What is Paediatric HDU care”. It is aimed at ST 4- 5 trainees, but any trainee is welcome.
The morning is lecture based, covering HDU management of the shocked child, the child with respiratory distress and the use of non invasive ventilation and the child with a decreased level of consciousness. We will also explore HDU retrievals.
The afternoon consists of 4 stations
A simulated HDU case
Case based discussions
Small group work on Non invasive Ventilation
The management of a chest drain once inserted
A full programme will be sent out nearer the time
Maximum numbers 32 per day. Venue – Kings College Hospital
