Almost a year on since collecting the first ever Paediatric Job Information Guide (JIG) in North West London, thanks to all your “JIGging”, we now have a brilliant database of job information guides for Paediatric posts pan-London. The database, which is available on the London Paediatrics Website, http://www.londonpaediatrics.co.uk/programmes/job-information-guides-jigs/
provides JIGs for almost all Paediatric posts in London for both Level 1 and Level 2 trainees. Each JIG provides key information about the post including general information about transport and accommodation, as well as more detailed information about the job role and duties, specialist services offered at the Trust, educational opportunities and top tips.
We have received great feedback from trainees, on the value of the JIG as a tool for handing over to new incoming trainees and in preparing for their next post. ST3’s have also positively fed back on their use in selecting posts for their registrar training. The JIGs have also been valuable to the newly recruited ST1 trainees in their selection of rotations. In previous years the workforce department has received large numbers of queries regarding placements, but this year, they have not received a single query regarding Paediatric posts that trainees are rotating to. This is a reflection of the high quality JIGs you have all created- so a really huge thank you to anyone who has taken the time to complete a JIG and support the project. Your contribution has been most valuable!
We are still collecting a few final JIGs, so if you are yet to join the “JIG” please email firstname.lastname@example.org for a template! As always, we are keen to improve and welcome any feedback!
Thanks again for your on-going support and input.
